A section of a chawl collapsed in Mumbai's Mankhurd area on Sunday evening amid heavy rains, killing six people.
On Sunday night around 8 p.m., part of a ground-plus-three-storey chawl collapsed at Janata Nagar in Mankhurd. According to the BMC, the incident occurred behind Hanuman Mandir at chawl number five.
Teams from the fire brigade, police and BMC ward staff reached the site to rescue those trapped. The injured were taken to Rajawadi Hospital and Shatabdi Hospital.
Shatabdi Hospital stated that a 32-year-old woman and four children aged between two and 14 years were declared dead. A seven-year-old boy died during treatment at Rajawadi Hospital, while a 24-year-old man remains in stable condition.
