La municipalité de George, dans la province sud-africaine du Cap-Occidental, a levé les tarifs d'urgence de l'eau et a fait passer les restrictions du niveau 2D au niveau 2B suite à l'amélioration du niveau des barrages.

La municipalité a annoncé ces changements jeudi après que le barrage de Garden Route est passé de 46 % à près de 89 % en deux semaines en raison de fortes précipitations. Le barrage de Haarlem a atteint sa pleine capacité à 100 %. La maire Browen Johnson a salué cette décision, tout en exhortant les résidents à éviter de reprendre des habitudes de gaspillage d'eau. Cette décision fait suite à des pluies généralisées dans la région qui ont considérablement augmenté les niveaux de stockage.
