Un officier des Hawks confirme la disparition de cocaïne d'une valeur de 55 millions de rands d'un laboratoire médico-légal

Un haut gradé de la police a déclaré à la commission d'enquête Madlanga en Afrique du Sud que de la cocaïne d'une valeur de 55 millions de rands avait disparu d'un laboratoire de police scientifique après avoir été saisie à Johannesburg en 2021.

Le colonel Francois Steyn, à la tête de l'unité des crimes organisés du West Rand pour les Hawks du Gauteng, a témoigné lundi que la drogue manquante faisait partie d'une cargaison de 715,86 kg interceptée à Aeroton le 9 juillet 2021.

La cargaison a été transférée du poste de police de Booysens vers une école de police de Pretoria, puis vers un laboratoire médico-légal. Lorsque Steyn a demandé à y accéder en décembre 2024, le personnel n'a pas pu localiser la quantité totale. En février 2025, la cocaïne ne pesait plus que 579,40 kg, laissant 136,46 kg manquants.

Steyn a décrit la scène de crime initiale comme étant proche du chaos. Ce témoignage fait suite aux preuves présentées la semaine dernière à la même commission concernant un vol distinct de cocaïne d'une valeur de 200 millions de rands dans un bâtiment des Hawks au KwaZulu-Natal en 2021.
