Housing seekers in Stockholm hit by spam filter

Housing seekers in Stockholm risk missing rental apartments when email replies get caught in the municipal housing agency's spam filter. One woman accepted an apartment offer but lost it anyway. Over three months 150 emails were incorrectly sorted as spam.

According to Hem & Hyra several cases were registered as dropouts after emails landed in the spam folder at Bostadsförmedlingen. A woman in Stockholm replied yes to a contract offer but her message had been caught in the filter.

Bostadsförmedlingen CEO Jacob Krokstedt states that the company takes the issue seriously. He says they are working to abolish email communication as much as possible.

The incidents occurred during the last three months up to the publication date of 2 July 2026.
