Kenya Airways signe un accord pour la première raffinerie de carburant d'aviation durable en Afrique

Kenya Airways a signé un protocole d'accord avec Rubis Energy Kenya pour construire la première raffinerie dédiée au carburant d'aviation durable en Afrique. L'accord a été finalisé le mardi 12 mai, en présence du président William Ruto et du président français Emmanuel Macron.

La raffinerie transformera des huiles de cuisson usagées et des graisses animales d'origine locale en carburant d'aviation durable. Une fois achevée, elle devrait produire 32 000 tonnes métriques par an, grâce à un investissement de 60 à 70 millions d'euros.

Le projet suivra plusieurs étapes de production, notamment le prétraitement des matières premières, l'hydrodésoxygénation pour éliminer l'oxygène, l'isomérisation pour améliorer les propriétés du carburant et le fractionnement pour séparer les composants.

Il s'agit du deuxième partenariat majeur de Kenya Airways ces derniers jours, après son rôle de compagnie aérienne officielle pour le concert Africa Forward qui s'est tenu le même jour au Kasarani Indoor Arena à Nairobi.
