Dangote privilégie Mombasa pour un projet de raffinerie majeur

Le milliardaire nigérian Aliko Dangote a fait part de sa préférence pour la construction d'une grande raffinerie de pétrole à Mombasa, au Kenya, plutôt que sur le site de Tanga, en Tanzanie, comme envisagé précédemment. M. Dangote a tenu ces propos dans une interview au Financial Times publiée dimanche.

M. Dangote a expliqué que Mombasa dispose d'un port plus grand et plus profond que Tanga. Il a souligné que les Kényans consomment davantage de carburant et que le Kenya possède une économie plus importante.

Le coût du projet est estimé entre 15 et 17 milliards de dollars américains, soit environ 1,9 à 2,2 billions de shillings kényans. M. Dangote a précisé que la décision finale revenait au président William Ruto.

La proposition concernant Tanga avait été annoncée le mois dernier par le président Ruto lors du sommet « Africa We Build ». La présidente de la Tanzanie, Samia Suluhu Hassan, a déclaré qu'elle n'avait pas été consultée sur ce projet.
