La cour de Neiva confirme les peines pour le meurtre d'un chauffeur de taxi en 2020

Le Tribunal Superior de Neiva a finalisé le 30 avril les peines de prison de onze criminels impliqués dans l'enlèvement et le meurtre du chauffeur de taxi Jaime Bautista Charry en 2020. Le crime a eu lieu près du fleuve Magdalena dans le département de Huila. Le gang, se faisant passer pour des dissidents de la guérilla, a continué d'exiger une rançon après l'avoir tué.

L'enlèvement a eu lieu le 8 septembre 2020, lorsque la victime a pris en charge de faux passagers à Neiva. Quatre jours plus tard, le 12 septembre, les ravisseurs l'ont tué dans la zone de Buziraco à Aipe en lui tranchant la gorge et en lui infligeant de multiples coups de couteau. Son corps a été enterré dans une fosse commune.

Quatre ans plus tard, le tribunal a rejeté la demande de nullité de la défense. Le magistrat Alberto Poveda a déclaré que « la nullité n'est pas un recours pour échapper à la culpabilité ». Des interceptions téléphoniques et des enregistrements de géoréférencement ont confirmé l'implication de chacun.

Les peines vont de 31 à 42 ans et huit mois de prison. Parmi les condamnés figurent Yeison Ferney Tovar, Henry Bonilla Mendoza et Víctor Alfonso Méndez. Tous purgent une peine pour enlèvement extorqueur, homicide et détention illégale d'armes.
