Tribunal de Neiva mantém sentenças por assassinato de taxista em 2020

O Tribunal Superior de Neiva finalizou, em 30 de abril, as penas de prisão de onze criminosos pelo sequestro e assassinato do taxista Jaime Bautista Charry em 2020. O crime ocorreu perto do rio Magdalena, em Huila. A quadrilha, que se passava por dissidentes guerrilheiros, continuou exigindo resgate após matá-lo.

O sequestro ocorreu em 8 de setembro de 2020, quando a vítima pegou passageiros falsos em Neiva. Quatro dias depois, em 12 de setembro, os captores o mataram na região de Buziraco, em Aipe, cortando sua garganta e desferindo múltiplos golpes de faca. Seu corpo foi enterrado em uma cova rasa.

Anos depois, o tribunal rejeitou o pedido de nulidade da defesa. O magistrado Alberto Poveda afirmou que “a nulidade não é um recurso para evadir a culpa”. Interceptações telefônicas e registros de georreferenciamento confirmaram o envolvimento de todos.

As sentenças variam de 31 a 42 anos e oito meses de prisão. Entre os condenados estão Yeison Ferney Tovar, Henry Bonilla Mendoza e Víctor Alfonso Méndez. Todos estão cumprindo pena por sequestro extorsivo, homicídio e porte ilegal de armas.
