Le secteur privé propose de réduire le taux marginal d'imposition sur le revenu à 30 pour cent

Des acteurs du secteur privé, des banques et des experts-comptables ont demandé à la Commission parlementaire des finances et de la planification nationale d'abaisser le taux marginal d'imposition sur le revenu de 35 pour cent à 30 pour cent.

La Kenya Private Sector Alliance (Kepsa) a présenté ses propositions lors d'une réunion avec la commission. Son président, Jaswinder Bedi, a souligné que le taux maximal actuel de 35 pour cent s'applique aux revenus annuels supérieurs à 9,6 millions de shillings. La Kepsa propose cinq nouvelles tranches d'imposition avec un taux plafond de 30 pour cent. La proposition vise également à porter l'allégement fiscal personnel à 3 000 shillings par mois. Le directeur général de la Kenya Bankers Association, Raimond Molenje, a déclaré que cette réduction permettrait aux banques d'octroyer 10 milliards de shillings de prêts supplémentaires. Samuel Mwaura, associé fiscal chez Grant Thornton, a affirmé que les travailleurs du secteur formel supportent déjà une lourde charge fiscale.
