Privatsektor schlägt Senkung des Spitzensteuersatzes auf 30 Prozent vor

Interessengruppen aus dem Privatsektor, Banken und Wirtschaftsprüfer haben den parlamentarischen Ausschuss für Finanzen und nationale Planung aufgefordert, den höchsten Lohnsteuersatz (PAYE) von 35 Prozent auf 30 Prozent zu senken.

Die Kenya Private Sector Alliance (Kepsa) präsentierte ihre Vorschläge während eines Treffens mit dem Ausschuss. Der Vorsitzende Jaswinder Bedi erklärte, dass der aktuelle Spitzensteuersatz von 35 Prozent auf Jahreseinkommen von über 9,6 Millionen Sh gilt. Kepsa schlägt fünf neue Steuerstufen mit einem Höchstsatz von 30 Prozent vor. Der Vorschlag zielt zudem darauf ab, die persönliche Steuererleichterung auf 3.000 Sh pro Monat zu erhöhen. Raimond Molenje, Geschäftsführer der Kenya Bankers Association, sagte, dass die Senkung es den Banken ermöglichen würde, zusätzliche Kredite in Höhe von 10 Milliarden Sh zu vergeben. Samuel Mwaura, Steuerpartner bei Grant Thornton, merkte an, dass Arbeitnehmer im formellen Sektor bereits eine hohe Steuerlast tragen.
