Suvendu Adhikari prête serment en tant que ministre en chef du Bengale-Occidental

Suvendu Adhikari a prêté serment samedi en tant que premier ministre en chef du BJP au Bengale-Occidental, cinq jours après que le parti a mis fin à 15 ans de règne du Trinamool Congress.

La cérémonie de prestation de serment a eu lieu au Brigade Parade Ground de Kolkata. Le Premier ministre Narendra Modi était présent, accompagné de plusieurs ministres de l'Union et de ministres en chef du BJP venus d'autres États. Cinq autres ministres ont également prêté serment, représentant diverses communautés, notamment les groupes Rajbanshi, Matua et Adivasi.

Adhikari, 55 ans, ancien dirigeant du Trinamool Congress qui a rejoint le BJP en 2020, a déclaré après sa prise de fonction : « Ami mukhyomantri, ami ekhon sokoler » (Je suis le ministre en chef, je suis maintenant celui de tout le monde). Il s'est ensuite rendu sur le lieu de naissance de Rabindranath Tagore pour marquer le début d'une nouvelle ère.

Le Trinamool Congress a publié un communiqué félicitant les nouveaux dirigeants et a nommé Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay chef de l'opposition. Les parents d'Adhikari, qui n'ont pas pu assister à la cérémonie en raison de problèmes de santé, ont souligné ses qualités de leader et son tempérament calme.
