Trois employés d'un établissement psychiatrique inculpés après la mort d'un patient à Washington

Trois employés du Psychiatric Institute of Washington, situé à Washington D.C., font face à des accusations de négligence criminelle suite au décès en 2020 d'un patient de 58 ans. La procureure fédérale Jeanine Pirro a déclaré que les images de vidéosurveillance montraient le personnel en train de se taper dans la main et de discuter pendant plusieurs minutes alors que l'homme luttait pour respirer sur un matelas. Les employés ont été présentés devant le tribunal cette semaine et remis en liberté dans l'attente de leur procès.

Nelson Kuma, 37 ans, Richard Hounnou, 45 ans, et l'infirmière diplômée Norma Munoz-Bent, 68 ans, travaillaient au Psychiatric Institute of Washington le 24 avril 2020, lorsque le patient G.W. a subi une urgence médicale nécessitant une réanimation. Placé sous surveillance individuelle avec des contrôles de santé toutes les 15 minutes, G.W. a présenté des difficultés respiratoires deux jours plus tard, à 12h38, alors qu'il était allongé, dévêtu, sur un matelas au sol, selon des preuves vidéo citées par Mme Pirro lors d'une conférence de presse diffusée par WUSA.
