Disney Store Cancels Lorcana Release After Scalper Queue Turns Violent

A Disney Store in London canceled its planned in-store release of a limited Lorcana card set on July 17 after a chaotic queue involving over 100 people turned aggressive. The incident involved scalpers and gangs pushing to the front, prompting the store to open later without selling the cards.

The Oxford Street location was the only Disney Store in the UK scheduled to sell the Disney Lorcana Curator’s Collection: Heroines Edition that day. Between 100 and 150 collectors and scalpers lined up for over four blocks, with some waiting more than 12 hours.

Witnesses described the scene as disorderly. One collector noted violent and aggressive behavior as scalpers took over the queue. Another posted that the launch was canceled due to gangs pushing to the front.

Disney issued a statement prioritizing guest and staff safety. The company said it worked with local authorities to delay opening and confirmed the release would not happen that day. It apologized to fans who had lined up overnight.

Similar long lines formed at other locations, including Disneyland Paris, though those stores completed their releases amid complaints of pushing and line-cutting.
