Landfall devs push back on demands for endless Peak updates

Developers from Landfall and Aggro Crab have responded to fans criticizing their support for the game Peak, stating that post-launch updates are a bonus, not an entitlement. The exchange unfolded on Twitter after a user called the teams lazy for planning to end development this year. Landfall highlighted the game's extensive updates and their small team size.

On April 1, 2026, Landfall Games replied to a deleted tweet accusing the studio and Aggro Crab of a lazy development cycle for Peak. The fan suggested the teams could do much more with the title before ending work on it this year. Landfall countered: “Peak has had sooo many updates tho! Neither us or Aggro Crab are live service studios, any update is a bonus not a right.” As first spotted by GamesRadar, the thread drew further discussion on industry expectations for ongoing content. The studio noted that Peak, launched in June 2025, has received three major updates, numerous hotfixes, and patches, including two new biomes with a third planned later this year. Landfall emphasized that the industry historically released games without prolonged support, and they have exceeded typical post-launch efforts. Peak has sold over 5 million copies since release. Landfall described 2025 as their busiest year, with releases including Peak, Haste, and TABS: Pocket Edition. They revealed attempts to develop something new for 2026 that did not pan out. “We’ve stretched ourselves too thin, and the pressure to deliver a new game every year can be a lot on such a small team,” the studio said. Both Landfall and Aggro Crab are small teams with fewer than 50 staff combined and are now focusing on new projects.
