Thick as Thieves drops PvP for solo and co-op ahead of May launch

Warren Spector's upcoming game Thick as Thieves has shifted from its original PvPvE design to focus on solo and two-player co-op modes. OtherSide Entertainment announced the change, citing more enjoyment in these formats during development. The title launches on May 20 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

Thick as Thieves, developed by OtherSide Entertainment and led by Deus Ex designer Warren Spector, takes place in Kilcairn, an alternate-history 1910s Scottish metropolis blending technology and magic. The city features rain-slicked streets, soot-stained rooftops, portly guards, and opportunities for planned looting. Originally revealed in 2024 as an immersive sim with competitive PvPvE infiltration, the game has evolved based on development progress in its richly detailed world. OtherSide Entertainment explained on Steam this week, 'As development progressed and the world of Kilcairn has come to life, we found that we were having more fun with solo and co-op play.' The studio has ditched PvP elements to emphasize single-player and two-player co-op sneakery, while retaining its mission-based core designed for short play sessions. The release on May 20 across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S will reveal the updated experience.
