He acknowledged that the skills have not fully met expectations, stating, 'It was a tough problem space for us and I don't think by any means we nailed it. There are definitely skills in there that are under-serving their purpose.' Watkins hinted at substantial reworks ahead without providing specifics at this time. The upcoming Expedition on April 28 will include changes to how progression resets function, building on player feedback. Watkins noted that while some updates involve minor statistical tweaks—which he personally finds less engaging—they serve a purpose. Other elements introduce new abilities, offering more meaningful progression options for players. Balancing these systems in an online shooter presents difficulties, particularly in player-versus-player scenarios. Watkins questioned whether investing in certain skill tree branches should give a clear advantage over others, highlighting the need for fair competition across different playstyles. These planned changes aim to address ongoing criticisms of the skill trees amid an active player base.
