Professor Xosé Manuel Dasilva publishes Os libros censurados por Franco, a volume compiling dictatorship files on Galician-language works.
The volume, published by Galaxia in 2026, examines censor reports that affected authors such as Eduardo Blanco Amor. In the case of Xente ao lonxe, three unfavorable reports in 1971 required rewriting passages on clergy and social themes before its 1972 release.
Dasilva located the files at the Archivo General de la Administración in Alcalá de Henares. For A esmorga, issued in Buenos Aires in 1959, the 1970 Galician edition incorporated changes demanded by censors, according to the documents.
Another example is the Galician translation of Heidegger’s Da esencia da verdade, approved in 1952 but suspended by the head of the Book Inspection section. The text appeared four years later after Juan Aparicio left his post.
The researcher compiles cases that illustrate the censors’ concerns over religion, politics, morality and the use of Galician for philosophical topics.
