The Central Information Commission has granted an information dispute request regarding President Joko Widodo's diploma and ordered the KPU to provide copies. The ruling declares the diploma as public information used in the 2014-2019 and 2019-2024 presidential elections. The KPU has 14 days to appeal.

Jakarta – The alleged fake diploma case of Indonesia's 7th President Joko Widodo continues with a new development from the Central Information Commission (KIP). On Tuesday, January 13, 2026, the KIP Commissioners' Panel granted an information dispute request filed by public policy observer Bonatua Silalahi. The ruling for Case No. 074/X/KIP-PSI/2025 was read by Panel Chair Handoko Agung Saputro in the KIP courtroom, Jakarta.

"We decide to accept the request in full," Handoko stated. The ruling declares the bachelor's diploma copies in the name of Joko Widodo as public information. The General Elections Commission (KPU) RI is required to provide them after the ruling gains legal force. "We order the respondent (KPU RI) to provide the information in paragraph 62 to the applicant," he added.

The KPU has 14 days to appeal to the State Administrative Court (PTUN). If no appeal is filed, the ruling will be enforced through the courts. Meanwhile, in the fake diploma allegation case handled by Polda Metro Jaya, files for three suspects—including Roy Suryo and Rismon Sianipar—have been handed over to prosecutors. FPIR Coordinator Fauzan Ohorella urged investigators to resolve the nearly 100-day-old case promptly.

"Evidence is very strong, from Laboratory Forensic tests to comparison data from UGM Faculty of Forestry graduates," Fauzan said on January 14, 2026. The original Forestry Bachelor's diploma No. 1120, NIM 1681KT, dated November 5, 1985, was declared identical through forensic examination. Fauzan emphasized the need for handover to the Prosecutor's Office to avoid speculation and societal polarization. He also questioned the application of the new Criminal Code Article 436, categorizing it as minor defamation.

Cosa dice la gente

Discussions on X highlight the KIP ruling mandating KPU to release Jokowi's diploma copies as public information, viewed as a transparency win by many. Skeptics anticipate exposure of alleged forgeries in hidden details, while supporters expect confirmation of authenticity. Reactions mix celebration, demands for compliance, and notes on KPU's appeal option.
