Postnord sends out 150,000 erroneous notifications

Postnord has sent out 150,000 notifications to customers about packages that do not exist. The error stems from a system glitch at a supplier and affects private customers who previously ordered goods from China. The company stresses that it is not fraud.

On Wednesday, October 30, 2025, Postnord sent out 150,000 freight labels and notifications to its customers. These alerts referred to old orders from China, but no packages were awaiting pickup. The cause is a system error at an external supplier of notification services, according to Postnord.

Press chief Anders Porelius explained in a press release: “We are now in dialogue regarding how the incorrect data transfer and notifications could have occurred. It is important to emphasize that this does not involve fraud.” He added: “Since the notification is linked to an old order, and is therefore incorrect, there is no package to pick up. The recipient should feel secure in ignoring it. We apologize if anyone feels inconvenienced or confused by the notifications.”

So far, around 170 customers have contacted Postnord's customer service about the issue. The company urges affected individuals who have not recently ordered from China to disregard the notifications. Postnord is working with the supplier to investigate and prevent similar errors in the future. The incident has caused concern among customers, but nothing indicates security risks or fraudulent activity.
