U.S. honey producers launch promotion initiative

A coalition of major U.S. beekeeping groups has formed a steering committee to explore ways to boost demand for domestic honey. The American Honey Promotion Initiative aims to differentiate American products amid challenges from imports and rising costs.

The effort is led by representatives from the American Honey Producers Association, American Beekeeping Federation, California State Beekeepers Association and North Dakota Beekeepers Association.

It focuses on marketing campaigns, a potential voluntary seal for 100 percent U.S.-produced honey and transparent funding through voluntary assessments.

The initiative is described as a structured evaluation process rather than a completed program. Leaders said they will provide regular updates and final recommendations to member organizations.

A statement from the group noted that producers are ready to invest in themselves to define authentic American honey from hive to table.
