長官は「今週発表される第1四半期の国内総生産(GDP)予測値は、昨年第4四半期の修正値である4%の成長からさらに加速し、過去5年近くで最も高い四半期成長率を記録する見通しだ」と語った。

また、中国本土の「労働節」ゴールデンウィーク休暇の最初の2日間で、香港への訪問者数が前年比6%増の60万2000人に達したと指摘した。2026年第1四半期の訪問者数は17%増の1430万人を超え、パンデミック以降で四半期として最多となった。

同期間の小売・飲食支出は5.2%増加し、予測される成長を後押しした。GDP速報値は火曜日に発表される予定である。
