新日本プロレスは、6月14日に大阪で開催された「DOMINION」大会において、「G1 Climax 36」の出場選手ラインナップの第一弾を発表した。
全20選手が参加する今大会は、2つのブロックに分かれて競われ、14名の出場者が決定済み。残る6枠は予選試合によって決定される。
Aブロックには、「DOMINION」でカラム・ニューマンを破り、新たなIWGPヘビー級王者となった辻陽太が名を連ねた。その他、竹下幸之介、後藤洋央紀、鷹木信悟、ジェイク・リー、SANADA、ボルチン・オレグの参加が発表されている。
Bブロックには、カラム・ニューマン、ゲイブ・キッド、ザック・セイバーJr.、海野翔太、上村優也、成田蓮、ドリラ・モロニーが選出された。HENAREとグレート-O-カーンの参戦も決定しており、それぞれ別のブロックに振り分けられる予定だ。
今大会は7月11日にシカゴ郊外のNOWアリーナで開幕する。新日本プロレスのG1が米国で開幕するのは2019年以来となり、8月16日の決勝戦で幕を閉じる。
