Tesla has introduced a feature in its 2026 Summer Update that allows owners to upload custom vehicle wraps directly through the mobile app. This change eliminates the need for the USB drive that had been required since 2024.
The update includes an option labeled “Send Custom Wraps from Mobile App.” Tesla stated that owners can now skip the USB drive and upload a custom wrap for their car from the mobile app, with instructions available at GitHub.com/teslamotors/custom-wraps.
The digital wrap tool first appeared in the 2024 Holiday Update for Cybertruck owners. It later expanded to other models and was renamed Paint Shop in the 2025 Holiday Update. Previously, users had to format a USB drive, create a specific folder, and transfer PNG files sized between 512×512 and 1024×1024 pixels that were under 1 MB each.
Tesla announced the change on July 22, 2026. The broader Summer Update, which also adds expanded Grok voice commands and other features, is rolling out now in waves. The company did not specify when the wrap upload function would reach individual vehicles.
