VW opens order books for ID.Polo from late April

Volkswagen will open order books for the new electric ID.Polo at the end of April. The compact car starts at 24,995 euros and is set for delivery after the summer break. Brand chief Thomas Schäfer calls it a "true Volkswagen for the electric age".

Wolfsburg. Volkswagen is launching its compact car offensive with the ID.Polo. Orders open at the end of April, with deliveries starting in May from 24,995 euros, the manufacturer announced.

The ID.Polo measures 4.05 meters in length with a 2.60-meter wheelbase and seats five passengers. Its trunk holds 435 to 1,243 liters, making it more spacious than the conventional Polo.

Initially, three powertrain options are available: 85 kW/116 hp, 99 kW/135 hp, or 155 kW/211 hp. The base models pair with a 37 kWh LFP battery for about 300 km range, while the top version uses a 52 kWh battery for up to 455 km. Charging peaks at 90 or 130 kW.

Thomas Schäfer promises that electric entry-level mobility "requires no compromises" and can be premium and practical. An ID.Polo GTI with 166 kW/227 hp is planned for next year, likely exceeding 30,000 euros.
