EIH introduces performance-linked pay for state enterprise boards

Ethiopian Investment Holdings has replaced flat board payments with a system that ties compensation to profitability and audit performance.

Ethiopian Investment Holdings has introduced a performance-linked remuneration framework for board members of state-owned enterprises. The new system ends guaranteed payments and bases rewards on profitability, clean audit reports, and timely dividend payments.

A weighted scoring model combines institutional ratings, board performance, and individual key performance indicators. Chairpersons receive a higher rate under the framework.

In-kind benefits and asset privileges are prohibited. The policy seeks to strengthen governance discipline across Ethiopia’s public investment portfolio.
