폴 찬 모포 재무장관은 경제적 유대 강화와 관련한 연설에서 이 같은 증가세를 보고했다. 걸프 국가와 홍콩 간의 교역량은 전년도에는 약 5% 증가하는 데 그쳤었다.아랍에미리트와의 교역량은 2026년 같은 5개월 동안 52% 이상 급증했다. 찬 장관은 지난해 걸프 지역 국부펀드가 전 세계적으로 수백억 달러를 투자했다고 언급했다.찬 장관은 “자본 흐름 측면에서 걸프 국부펀드들은 이전까지 주로 미국과 유럽 시장에 투자해 왔다. 그러나 지난해 이들이 전 세계적으로 투자한 수백억 달러 중 약 40%가 아시아로 유입됐다”고 말했다.또한 그는 “이는 자산 배분 전략의 뚜렷한 변화를 반영하는 것이며, 자산 다변화 전략이 점차 구체화되고 있다”고 덧붙였다.
