이 수치는 전년 대비 1.5%포인트 상승했으며 2년 연속 40%를 넘어섰다. 종합직 공무원 중 여성 비중 또한 38.2%로 역대 최고치를 기록했다. 4월 1일 기준 전체 채용 인원 9,268명 중 여성은 3,885명이었으며 종합직은 887명 중 339명을 차지했다. 정부는 지난 3월, 2030 회계연도까지 국가 공무원 및 종합직의 여성 비율을 40%로 끌어올린다는 목표를 담은 남녀 공동 참여 기본 계획을 승인한 바 있다. 부처별로는 외무성이 58.1%로 가장 높은 비율을 기록한 반면, 국토교통성은 29.5%로 가장 낮았다. 내각인사국 관계자는 일과 육아의 양립을 위한 정부 지원과 근무 방식 개혁을 통한 직장 환경 개선이 이러한 결과로 이어졌다고 설명했다.
