Tecnologia acessível é incentivada para pequenos agricultores do Quênia

Inovadores em tecnologia agrícola foram incentivados a desenvolver ferramentas acessíveis e fáceis de usar, adequadas para os pequenos agricultores do Quênia.

Peter Juma, diretor administrativo da KickStart International, fez o apelo em um fórum do Kenya Editors Guild Press Club em Nairóbi.

Ele afirmou que os agricultores aceitam tecnologias que resolvem problemas reais, são acessíveis e se pagam. Ele citou bombas de água movidas a energia solar, com preços entre 40.000 e 200.000 xelins, como exemplos de ferramentas que ainda são caras demais para muitos.

Juma ressaltou que as tecnologias devem atender às necessidades das mulheres, sendo leves e portáteis. Os participantes concordaram que o principal desafio é transformar a pesquisa em medidas que os agricultores possam implementar facilmente.
