Cultivo de coca na Colômbia atinge 261 mil hectares em 2024

O cultivo de coca na Colômbia totalizou 261 mil hectares em 2024, de acordo com um relatório do Escritório das Nações Unidas sobre Drogas e Crime.

O relatório mostra um aumento de 3,5% em relação aos 253 mil hectares registrados em 2023. A região do Pacífico impulsionou o crescimento com uma alta de 14%, passando de 107.078 para 121.612 hectares.

Outras áreas registraram variações distintas. Putumayo-Caquetá reduziu seus cultivos em 14%, para 49.190 hectares, enquanto Catatumbo cresceu 11%, chegando a 48.739 hectares. A região Central caiu 7%, para 34.348 hectares.

Tumaco, em Nariño, liderou com quase 31 mil hectares. No total, 180 municípios relataram a presença de coca, embora metade da área total esteja concentrada em apenas dez deles.

Nessa escala, a coca ocupa o posto de oitava maior cultura do país, atrás do café, do dendê e do arroz.
