Forshaga IF to withdraw from Hockeyettan next season

Forshaga IF has decided to leave Hockeyettan ahead of the 2026-27 season amid ongoing economic difficulties. The board made the decision on Sunday after failing to secure additional support from the local municipality for the operation of Ängevi Ishall.

The club reached the quarterfinals in the most recent campaign but has struggled with finances for several years. Issues included challenges covering the costs of running the arena and reports of delayed salary payments to players during the past season. Discussions with Forshaga municipality about increased funding or a full takeover of the facility did not yield a resolution, leading to the withdrawal decision.
