Secretário de habitação busca 150 bilhões de xelins adicionais junto ao parlamento

O Secretário Principal de Habitação solicitou ao Parlamento a aprovação de um adicional de 150 bilhões de xelins quenianos (Ksh) para suprir um déficit de financiamento no programa de habitação popular do Quênia. Charles Hinga fez o apelo durante uma reunião de comitê em 13 de maio.

Falando ao Comitê da Assembleia Nacional sobre Habitação, Planejamento Urbano e Obras Públicas, Hinga afirmou que as dotações atuais são insuficientes para atingir as metas anuais de construção. Ele observou que o programa requer aproximadamente 228 bilhões de Ksh no ano fiscal de 2026/27, enquanto o Tesouro forneceu apenas 50,6 bilhões de Ksh.

O departamento arrecada atualmente cerca de 100 bilhões de Ksh por ano, contudo, a demanda por unidades continua a crescer nas áreas urbanas. Hinga alertou que, sem recursos adicionais, a entrega de pelo menos 2.000 unidades habitacionais anualmente poderá enfrentar atrasos.

Ele delineou planos para arrecadar até 100 bilhões de Ksh por meio de vendas de imóveis e recebíveis securitizados. O diretor executivo do Conselho de Habitação Popular foi incumbido de garantir 50 bilhões de Ksh apenas com as vendas.

Hinga instou os legisladores a apoiarem o pedido, declarando que o respaldo do Parlamento é essencial para manter a implementação dentro do cronograma.
