National Court judge José Luis Calama has requested a preliminary appraisal of the jewels found in the safe at José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero's office.
The magistrate requested the analysis from the Ansorena auction house. The order aims to determine the nature, authenticity, replacement economic value, manufacturer and approximate manufacturing date of the items.
The search took place on May 19 at the former prime minister's office on Ferraz street in Madrid, as part of the Plus Ultra case. UDEF agents found necklaces, earrings, bracelets and watches from brands such as Omega and Longines.
Zapatero has been summoned to testify on June 17 and 18. He faces charges of influence peddling and money laundering. The former president's secretary stated that some jewels came from inheritances and gifts.
