PAGASA monitors two low-pressure areas unlikely to develop

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration is monitoring two low-pressure areas on July 30 that are unlikely to become tropical depressions within the next 24 hours.

One low-pressure area, labeled 07E, was located along the coastal waters of Nasugbu, Batangas, as of 3 a.m. on Thursday. It is expected to bring cloudy skies and rains over the Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and Metro Manila before possibly dissipating within 24 hours.

The second low-pressure area, labeled 07F, was spotted 1,615 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility. It has remained almost stationary and may continue over the Philippine Sea for the next few days before dissipating, with no expected impact on local weather.

PAGASA also noted that up to four cyclones are projected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility in August, with names Luis, Maymay, Neneng, and Obet if they develop. The reduced outlook is attributed to a potentially very strong El Niño event.
