Road closures announced for Black Nazarene Traslacion 2026

Quiapo Church has announced road closures and alternative routes for the Black Nazarene Traslacion 2026, warning motorists of widespread traffic restrictions. Devotees are urged to plan their journeys early to avoid congestion in Manila.

Quiapo Church has issued a comprehensive traffic advisory and safety guidelines ahead of the Black Nazarene Traslacion 2026. The advisory, released on Sunday, January 4, states that several major roads in Manila will be temporarily closed as the andas, or carriage, of the Black Nazarene passes through.

The public is advised to avoid traveling to Quiapo starting at 5 p.m. on January 8, particularly for southbound trips, as traffic restrictions begin. Road closures will remain in effect until the procession concludes, except in areas cleared after the andas has passed.

Among the roads scheduled for closure are Independence Road to Katigbak Drive, portions of Roxas Boulevard and Padre Burgos, Ayala Bridge, the stretch of Carlos Palanca Street to Globo de Oro, Solano Street, and Padilla Street. P. Casal Street up to Mendiola and Legarda will stay closed to regular traffic to allow access for emergency vehicles and rescue teams.

For devotees heading to the Quirino Grandstand, organizers recommend using Taft Avenue, Kalaw Avenue, or Roxas Boulevard. Those joining the procession are reminded not to meet or block the andas head-on but to join from behind and move with the flow to minimize congestion and safety risks.

Designated access routes are provided for different areas: From the west, north, or España, use Quezon Bridge, MacArthur Bridge, or Jones Bridge toward Padre Burgos or Intramuros. From R-10, Tondo, and the west, take M. Roxas Bridge or Delpan Bridge. From the north and east, use Nagtahan Bridge or Mabini Bridge toward Otis or U.N. Avenue.

These guidelines aim to ensure the safety of all participants in this traditional event.
