Samsung Electronics appointed Roh Tae-moon, head of its mobile division, as co-CEO to lead its device business on November 21. This restores the co-CEO structure nearly nine months after the death of former Vice Chairman Han Jong-hee in March. The move aims to strengthen core businesses and secure future technologies amid uncertainties.

Samsung Electronics announced a leadership reshuffle on November 21, 2025, officially naming Roh Tae-moon as head of its Device Experience (DX) division and co-CEO. Roh, who had been acting head of DX since April, will continue leading the Mobile Experience (MX) business within the division, which oversees mobile, TV, and home appliance sectors.

This appointment restores the co-CEO structure alongside Vice Chairman and CEO Jun Young-hyun, who will maintain leadership of the Device Solutions (DS) division and memory business. Jun will hand over the Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology (SAIT) to Park Hong-kun, a Harvard University professor specializing in nanoscience and quantum science, effective January 1.

Samsung also promoted Yoon Jang-hyun, former CEO of Samsung Venture Investment, to president, chief technology officer (CTO) of the DX division, and head of Samsung Research to drive next-generation semiconductor research and accelerate the shift to an AI-driven organization.

The company stated that the co-CEO system will bolster competitiveness in key businesses, ensure stable management amid uncertainties, and position it for future technologies. Roh, a Ph.D. from Pohang University of Science and Technology who joined in 1997 and became president in 2018, is credited with MX's strong performance, including 100.3 trillion won ($68.12 billion) in sales from January to September, driven by AI features in the Galaxy S25 series and the Galaxy Fold7's form factor. The reshuffle emphasizes continuity over sweeping changes, with further vice president-level adjustments expected.
