Jens Gustafsson was let go on Tuesday after 3.5 years with Troja-Ljungby, where he served as both head coach and sport manager before the arrival of Tobias Johansson as sportchef. The club cited insufficient results and the need for new energy, as stated in their press release: "The sporting results have been inadequate for a longer period and we have not realized the potential of the team as we want." Troja, newcomers to Hockeyallsvenskan, aimed for a top-10 finish but have struggled with seven straight losses and the worst defensive record, conceding the most goals alongside Nybro.
In a farewell message to fans on the Troja Supporterforum Facebook group, Gustafsson expressed gratitude: "Om jag zoomar ut lite, så känner jag en stor stolthet och tacksamhet för vad VI, TILLSAMMANS har skapat i och runt hockeyn i Ljungby under min tid här." Sportchef Tobias Johansson highlighted the need for a clearer structure in play, especially without the puck, and announced plans to reinforce the roster despite believing in the current group's potential.
Club chairman Stefan Hörberg told Hockeynews, "Det kan inte bli sämre," emphasizing patience had run out after 44 percent of the season. He noted Gustafsson's contract expires this season, making the change low-risk.
