Vampire Survivors studio reviews Fortnite collaboration over AI

Poncle, the developer behind Vampire Survivors, announced it is reviewing its planned Fortnite collaboration following Epic Games' State of Unreal presentation. The decision came hours after Epic showcased generative AI tools during the event. The studio cited concerns over Epic's use of the technology for game assets.

Last night Epic unveiled several upcoming Fortnite collaborations during its State of Unreal show. These included partnerships with Vampire Survivors, Control Resonant, Sonic Crossworlds Racing and Phantom Blade Zero.

Hours later Poncle responded to a Reddit post. The studio stated it was currently reviewing the collaboration after news of Epic's generative AI usage for assets including Fortnite characters. It added that it would provide updates if anything changes.

Epic demonstrated an experimental plugin integrating tools such as Claude with Unreal Engine. Senior director Michael Lentine said the approach allows artists to create content in days rather than months. Poncle did not detail further steps or confirm the exact reasons for the review.
