Ferrari is preparing a second power unit update for the current Formula 1 season. The team will follow its Austria modifications with a new turbocharger after the summer break.
Ferrari has committed to its hotter engine concept with the Austria updates. The first round of changes includes modifications to the combustion chamber using a steel-alloy cylinder head.
The team will run cylinders at 110C during combustion in Austria. This approach aims to increase efficiency when paired with higher-calorific-value fuel.
A newly designed turbocharger forms the second ADUO update. It is expected at Zandvoort or Monza, with changes to blade number, angle and materials.
Ferrari received two development opportunities after its performance gap exceeded 4% compared with the Red Bull-Ford unit. Mercedes and Honda will not introduce similar ADUO engines this season.
