Riley skrev att Cannes avvisade I Love Boosters, såväl som hans långfilm Sorry To Bother You från 2018 och komediserien I’m a Virgo. Han påpekade att festivalen valde The Idol framför I’m a Virgo och valde andra titlar som redan visats i sina hemland, samtidigt som de tackade nej till hans verk. ”De gillar helt enkelt inte mina grejer. Det är lugnt”, tillade han i inlägget.
