Double murder in San Luis: family bids farewell to victims in grief

A 45-year-old woman and her 13-year-old daughter were stabbed to death in their home in Villa Mercedes, San Luis, with their bodies discovered on Saturday after a 911 call. Two suspects, a 21-year-old woman and her 25-year-old partner, were arrested in La Pampa as they tried to flee. The family, led by the eldest daughter Sol, voiced their profound grief and demanded justice.

On Saturday, the bodies of Vanesa Zanni, 45, and her daughter Tatiana Lidia Belén Lucero Zanni, 13, were found in their home in the San José neighborhood of Villa Mercedes, San Luis. A neighbor called 911 due to no activity at the residence for several days. Upon entry, police discovered the victims with multiple stab wounds, and initial forensics indicated they had been dead for several days, with no signs of defense.

The investigation, led by prosecutor Gisela Milstein of Instruction Prosecutor's Office No. 5, is under summary secrecy. An interprovincial operation involving forces from San Luis, La Pampa, Mendoza, and Córdoba led to the arrest of two individuals: Dayana Macarena Peralta, 21, and Axel Emiliano Crisito, 25. Both occasionally resided in the victims' home and were intercepted by La Pampa police on national route 188, between Quetrequén and Maisonnave, near the San Luis border. The undocumented suspects, who have developmental delays, were attempting a coordinated escape.

They will be transferred to Villa Mercedes to face justice. The San Luis Ministry of Education expressed sorrow for the "irreparable loss" of the teenager on social media and offered support to the family.

Amid the grief, Sol, Vanesa's eldest daughter and Tatiana's sister, shared a heartbreaking farewell: "No hay palabras." She voiced her pain and demanded justice for the double murder that shocked the province.
