I Düsseldorf signalerar Tysklands HDE-konsumentbarometer en kraftig nedgång i konsumenternas förtroende. Mätningen, som beräknas månadsvis av Handelsblatt Research Institute för Handelsverband HDE baserat på en enkät med cirka 1 600 hushåll, visar att aprils siffra på 94,85 poäng är den lägsta sedan februari 2024. Förväntningarna på konjunkturen och de personliga inkomsterna har försämrats. Sparbenägenheten minskar i takt med att hushållen dirigerar om medel för att täcka höjda energikostnader. Konsumenterna förutser pris- och ränteökningar, vilket sätter press på den privata konsumtionen. Stämningsläget har förändrats till följd av de kraftiga energiprishöjningar som utlösts av kriget mot Iran. Sedan slutet av februari, efter USA:s och Israels attacker mot Iran, har dieselpriset stigit med cirka 50 cent per liter och bensinpriset med omkring 30 cent.
