Afar people move from partnership to ownership after reforms says Awel Arba

Afar Regional State Administrator Awel Arba stated that the region's people have gained full self-administration and ownership rights in politics and governance after recent reforms.

Awel Arba made the remarks at a Prosperity Party support rally held in Semera Logia, Dubti area of the Afar region.

He noted that regional revenue grew from 790 million birr in 2010 Ethiopian calendar to 8 billion birr. Agricultural land under cultivation expanded from 53,000 hectares to 138,000 hectares.

Wheat farming now covers more than 16,500 hectares with 276,000 quintals harvested. A new one-stop service center has also begun operations to improve public services.
