DIAN assures cyber incident does not affect citizens' data

DIAN stated that an external cybersecurity incident in its Digiturno appointment scheduling system did not compromise citizens' tax, customs, or exchange information. They will keep the virtual system temporarily suspended for ethical hacking tests. In-person service continues normally at 56 points nationwide.

The National Tax and Customs Directorate (DIAN), led by interim director Carlos Emilio Betancourt, issued a statement on the cybersecurity incident affecting its Digiturno virtual appointment scheduling system. Technical verifications confirmed no access, exposure, or impact on citizens' tax, customs, or exchange information. “Passwords and access credentials to institutional systems remain protected, have not been targeted, and DIAN's core services have not been compromised,” the document stated, dated March 19, 2026, at 10:58 local time (-05:00). To ensure security, the agency extended the temporary suspension of the virtual system to conduct ethical hacking tests with external provider Ciel Ingeniería and certified specialized firms. These involve simulations and strict reviews to mitigate cyberattack risks or vulnerabilities affecting data confidentiality or availability. Meanwhile, user services continue normally at 56 in-person contact points across the country.
