Serikali inaonya makandarasi wa mradi wa Galana Kulalu

Serikali ya Kenya imewaonya makandarasi wa mradi wa umwagiliaji wa Galana Kulalu dhidi ya kuchelewesha, ikisema matokeo yatakuwa makali kwa wale wasiotimiza wakati. Mkuu wa muda wa Kitengo cha Utumishi wa Serikali, Olando Sitati, alitoa onyo hilo wakati wa ukaguzi wa mradi. Kamishna wa Mkoa wa Pwani, Rhoda Onyancha, alisema umeme wa mradi utakamilika kufikia Septemba.

Wakati wa ukaguzi wa mradi wa umwagiliaji wa Galana Kulalu huo, Olando Sitati alisema sehemu muhimu kama umeme wa mradi wenye gharama ya Ksh2.9 bilioni bado haijakamilika licha ya rasilimali zilizotengwa. "Hakutakuwa na mazungumzo zaidi ya kuongeza mikataba ikiwa hawutimiza wakati," alisema Sitati.

Rhoda Onyancha aliongeza kuwa mkandarasi atatakiwa kumaliza umeme kufikia Septemba. "Tumeangalia sababu zote zinazosababisha mradi usianze haraka, na tumeafikiana nini kufanywa. Kufikia Septemba, tutakuwa na umeme kamili," alisema Onyancha.

Sitati alifichua mipango ya kupanua mradi mara baada ya mkandarasi kumaliza kituo cha kuhifadhia maji. "Tuna mkandarasi wa ujenzi wa kituo cha kuhifadhia maji, na ndani ya mwaka huu, tutapanua mradi kwa ekari 20,000 ili kusaidia kilimo katika kaunti hii," alisema.

Mradi wa Galana Kulalu ni wa umwagiliaji wa ekari milioni 2.9 ulioko pwani mwa Kenya, katika kaunti za Kilifi na Tana River, na lengo la kuongeza usalama wa chakula kupitia mazao kama mahindi na soya. Mwaka jana, Waziri wa Kilimo Mutahi Kagwe alitangaza mipango ya kutoa mradi kama SEZ ili kuvutia wawekezaji.
