Mnamo Jumatatu Juni 8 2026 mahakama kuu iliidhinisha uamuzi wa seneti wa kumtimua Naibu Rais wa zamani Rigathi Gachagua. Majaji Eric Ogolla Anthony Mrima na Fridah Mugambi walisema bunge lilifuata taratibu za kikatiba wakati wa mchakato huo.

Mahakama ilikataa madai ya upendeleo na ukosefu wa ushirikishaji wa umma. Hata hivyo ilibaini kuwa Gachagua alinyimwa haki ya kujitetea wakati alipokuwa hospitalini na hivyo seneti ilivunja haki yake ya kusikilizwa.

Kutokana na ukiukaji huo mahakama iliamua kumpa Gachagua Sh50 milioni kama fidia. Uamuzi wa kutimuliwa kwake unabaki hivyo Profesa Kithure Kindiki anaendelea kushikilia wadhifa wa Naibu Rais.
