The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration reported localized thunderstorms and habagat effects for Tuesday, July 14.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains and thunderstorms will affect the Visayas on Tuesday, July 14, due to localized thunderstorms caused by daytime heating. Cebu will see temperatures from 25 to 32 degrees Celsius with light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.

The southwest monsoon or habagat is forecast to bring strong to gale-force gusts over the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Cavite, Batangas and Occidental Mindoro. Cloudy skies with scattered rains are likely over Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur and La Union.

Tropical Storm Josie, internationally named Haishen, was located 1085 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas moving northwestward at 25 kilometers per hour with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour and gusts up to 80 kilometers per hour. PAGASA weather specialist Veronica Torres said Josie has no direct impact on the country and is expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility tonight or tomorrow morning while weakening into a tropical depression within 12 hours.

The southwest monsoon is forecast to cause rainy conditions over parts of northern Luzon on Saturday, according to the state weather bureau.

Heavy rains are expected over Zambales and Bataan in the next few hours due to the enhanced southwest monsoon, or habagat. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration issued a yellow rainfall alert at 8 a.m. on Sunday. Typhoon Noul, formerly Kiyapo, is moving away from the Philippine Area of Responsibility and no longer affecting the country.

The southwest monsoon has weakened and now affects only the western section of Northern Luzon, according to PAGASA. A low-pressure area near Hong Kong is expected to keep it from strengthening.

The low pressure area formerly known as Tropical Cyclone Caloy is forecast to weaken and dissipate over the Philippine Sea by Friday or Saturday without affecting the country.
