Ripoti ya NSDCC yaonyesha Wakenya 98,000 hawajui wana HIV

Ripoti mpya ya Baraza la Kitaifa la Kudhibiti Maradhi ya Kuambukizana (NSDCC) inaonyesha kuwa karibu Wakenya 98,000 wanaishi na virusi vya HIV bila kujua.

Ripoti hiyo iliyotolewa wiki jana inasema kati ya watu milioni 1.48 walioambukizwa nchini, asilimia 93 wamegunduliwa kupitia vipimo. Hii inamaanisha watu 98,000 hawajagunduliwa na wanaendelea na maisha ya kawaida.

Ripoti inaeleza kuwa watu wasiojua hali yao ndio chanzo kikuu cha maambukizi mapya. Kaunti kama Marsabit, Wajir, Mandera, Garissa na Samburu zina idadi kubwa ya watu wasiojua hali zao kutokana na umbali na unyanyapaa.

Kwa watoto, hali ni mbaya zaidi. Zaidi ya nusu ya watoto chini ya miaka mitano wenye HIV hawapati matibabu ya ART. Ripoti inasema mtu asiyejua anaugua HIV hawezi kuanza matibabu wala kuwakinga wapenzi wake.
