Hospitali za rufaa zinakabiliwa na uhaba wa madaktari na vifaa

Hospitali tatu kubwa za rufaa nchini, ikiwemo MTRH Eldoret, KNH na hospitali ya Nakuru, zinakabiliwa na upungufu wa wafanyakazi wa afya na msongamano wa wagonjwa. Ripoti za hivi karibuni zinaonyesha uhaba mkubwa wa wauguzi na madaktari wenye tajriba wanaohamia nje ya nchi. Hali hii inaathiri huduma za matibabu.

Hospitali ya Mafunzo na Rufaa ya Moi (MTRH) jijini Eldoret inakabiliwa na uhaba wa wahudumu wa afya, ikiwa na upungufu wa wauguzi karibu 1,000. Ripoti ya Mkaguzi wa Hesabu za Serikali, Nancy Gathungu, ya bajeti iliyoisha Juni 2025 inaonyesha upungufu wa 1,032 wahudumu, ikiwa na wapasuaji wakuu watano badala ya 11 na madaktari wa saratani sita badala ya 14.

“Upungufu huo umeathiri pakubwa utoaji huduma za afya katika hospitali ya pili kubwa zaidi ya rufaa nchini,” Gathungu alisema.

Kwa upande wake, Hospitali ya Mafunzo na Rufaa ya Kaunti ya Nakuru inahudumia zaidi ya kaunti sita na madaktari wawili wanahudumia wagonjwa zaidi ya 1,000 kwa siku, kulingana na ziara ya Kamati ya Afya Jumanne. Hospitali Kuu ya Kenyatta (KNH) ina tatizo la vitanda, na wadi zingine zikiwa na kiwango cha 140% cha ulazaji, pamoja na upungufu wa Sh4.9 bilioni katika bajeti ya 2024/2025.

Sababu kuu ni kuhama kwa madaktari na wauguzi wenye tajriba 60-100 kila mwaka kwenda Uropa, Amerika na Mashariki ya Kati, pamoja na malalamiko ya muda mrefu yaliyosababisha mgomo uliomalizika Jumanne baada ya makubaliano.
