Spika Kingi anaamuru kukamatwa kwa Gavana Lelelit

Spika wa Seneti Amason Kingi ameamuru kukamatwa mara moja kwa Gavana wa Samburu Lati Lelelit baada ya kushuhudiwa ndani ya majengo ya Bunge licha ya kibali cha kukamatwa. Amri hiyo ilitolewa wakati wa kikao cha Seneti saa 3:25 jioni tarehe 1 Aprili 2026. Mgogoro unaohusisha maseneta na magavana umezidi kutokana na kutojitokeza mbele ya kamati ya uangalizi.

Spika wa Seneti Amason Kingi aliamuru Sergeant-at-Arms kumudu Gavana Lati Lelelit hadi kituo cha polisi cha Bunge ikiwa bado yuko ndani ya eneo la Bunge. "Kwa sasa, ninaamuru Sergeant-at-Arms kumpeleka Gavana wa Samburu ikiwa bado yuko katika eneo la Bunge hadi kituo cha polisi kilichopo karibu," alisema Kingi.

Kabla ya amri hiyo, Kiongozi wa Wengi wa Seneti Aaron Cheruiyot alisimama na kuhimiza hatua haraka. "Hii ni suala zito... toa maagizo kabla gavana asipotee na ampeleke kituo cha polisi hapa Bunge," Cheruiyot alisema. Seneta wa Kitui Enoch Wambua alimuunga mkono akishutumu magavana kwa kukaidi wito wa Seneti, akiwataja Gavana Sakaja wa Nairobi.

Gavana Lelelit alikuwa akizungumza na waandishi wa habari nje ya Bunge wakati amri ilipotolewa, baada ya kufika kukutana na uongozi wa Seneti ili kuepuka kukamatwa. Kamati ya uangalizi wa kaunti imeshutumu magavana kwa kutohudhuria wito wa maulizo ya ukaguzi.

Mwenyekiti wa Baraza la Magavana Ahmed Abdullahi amekosoa hatua za kukamata magavana, akisema zina hatari kwa utawala wa sheria na zinatokana na madai ya ufisadi dhidi ya wanakamati. Alisema magavana 29 waliitwa lakini wawili tu waliohudhuria, na wamejitolea kwa uwajibikaji lakini wanapinga utendaji wa kibaguzi.
