Ashlee Simpson was revealed as the winner of the 14th season of The Masked Singer, performing under the Galaxy Girl costume. Her sister Jessica Simpson assisted in removing the oversized mask during the finale. Simpson beat her husband Evan Ross, who competed as Stingray.
Ashlee Simpson performed Olivia Rodrigo’s “Good 4 U” and Pink’s “Try” in the finale, securing the trophy. 'Honestly, I’m kind of freaking out right now. I’ve literally had the best experience of my life here.… I have grown so much here and I can’t even believe I won,' Simpson said after the unmasking. Jessica Simpson was present to celebrate the moment with her sister. Simpson competed alongside her husband Evan Ross, masked as Stingray. She told Billboard, 'Going into the show, I didn’t think I was going to be on that long, and all of a sudden I got competitive — not against my husband, because I couldn’t see him … We were both just rooting each other on and there to have a good time.' During the competition, Simpson focused on songs by female artists including Olivia Rodrigo, Paramore’s Hayley Williams, and Chappell Roan. 'We were looking for female artists and girls that had that strong quality,' she explained to Billboard. 'I really wanted that for Galaxy Girl, who is strong, sensitive, and there to have a good time.' Simpson's last album, Bittersweet World, came out in 2008, followed by a 2019 duet 'Phases' with Ross. She recently completed a short residency at Voltaire in the Venetian Resort in Las Vegas. The win has reignited her passion for performing. Simpson said there is 'definitely new music on the horizon,' adding, 'I’m looking forward to playing new shows and definitely ready for that moment to release new music.' She also expressed interest in acting and returning to Broadway.
